Background of the Study
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has gained significant attention in the field of cybersecurity for its ability to detect, predict, and mitigate complex cyber threats in real-time. Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa State, has been utilizing AI-driven technologies to enhance its cybersecurity posture, particularly in identifying vulnerabilities, preventing unauthorized access, and responding to security incidents. However, the effectiveness of AI in cybersecurity threat mitigation at the university remains underexplored.
AI systems, particularly machine learning algorithms, can analyze vast amounts of data, identify patterns of cyberattacks, and autonomously respond to emerging threats. This study will evaluate the role of AI in cybersecurity threat mitigation at Federal University, Lafia, by assessing its impact on improving network security, preventing data breaches, and enhancing the overall security infrastructure of the university.
Statement of the Problem
While AI has shown potential in transforming cybersecurity practices, the implementation and integration of AI-driven solutions in university networks may face challenges, including data privacy concerns, the need for specialized skills, and high implementation costs. At Federal University, Lafia, the actual impact of AI on cybersecurity threat mitigation needs to be evaluated to determine whether it effectively improves network security and reduces the risk of cyberattacks.
Objectives of the Study
To assess the current application of AI in cybersecurity threat mitigation at Federal University, Lafia.
To evaluate the effectiveness of AI-driven security solutions in detecting and mitigating cybersecurity threats.
To propose recommendations for optimizing the use of AI in the university’s cybersecurity infrastructure.
Research Questions
How is AI currently being used to mitigate cybersecurity threats at Federal University, Lafia?
What is the effectiveness of AI-driven cybersecurity solutions in detecting and preventing cyberattacks?
How can the implementation of AI in cybersecurity at Federal University, Lafia, be optimized for better results?
Significance of the Study
This study will provide Federal University, Lafia, with insights into the effectiveness of AI in enhancing its cybersecurity capabilities. By identifying strengths and areas for improvement, the university can optimize AI-driven solutions to better protect its digital infrastructure and safeguard the data of students, faculty, and staff.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on evaluating AI-driven cybersecurity threat mitigation measures at Federal University, Lafia, and will not cover broader AI applications outside of cybersecurity.
